Similarly as everybody has a remarkable unique fingerprint, every individual has a specific pattern of energy, an individual mix of physical, mental and passionate attributes which involves their own constitution. This constitution is set at conception by various factors and remains constant throughout one’s life.
In Ayurveda, body, spirit and consciousness work together to keep the balance. They are simply considered different aspects of being. To learn to balance the body, spirit and consciousness, we must understand how vata, pitta and kapha work together. According to Ayurveda philosophy, the whole cosmos is an interaction of the energies of the five great elements: space, air, fire, water and earth.
Vata, pitta and kapha are combinations and permutations of these five elements which manifest as models present in the whole creation. In the physical body, vata is the subtle energy of motion, pitta the energy of digestion and metabolism, and kapha the energy that constitutes the structure of the body.
